We have now taken on Sponsorship for Chigubudu Primary School in Malawi for Year 2!
During 2018 we have been raising funds to sponsor a primary school in Southern Malawi for a whole year, called Chigubudu Primary School via Mary’s Meals, with a vision of one day ending world hunger. Chikwawa, the area where our school is, lies in a malaria endemic area in Africa. Many of these children are orphaned.
We have 305 Primary Children to feed each year, 168 Boys & 137 Girls. It costs only £13.90 to feed 1 child for 1 year. Our target is to raise £4,240.00 annually. After the success of our Vintage Yoga Tea Party (18.11.18), as a team, we are now the official sponsors for 2019. Todays total (20.11.18), we have actually raised £4,741.73.
Our next challenge is to raise the same amount, so we can sponsor the school for 2020.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS TAKEN PART IN OUR FUNDRAISING EVENTS, THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE COULDNT DO IT WITHOUT YOU!
You have shown true community spirit by coming together and selflessly offering your time by volunteering, gathering things for us to sell, raising funds, not only for this event, but for all of our fundraisers. Collecting Jeep loads for the Glaswegian refugee community, collecting undies for Africa, to help prevent attack on young girls and woman and bringing in a tremendous amount of food for the local food banks.
2018 is not over and this is a great time to kick off our next challenge.
PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR NEXT FUNDRAISER, 108 SUN SALUTATIONS on SATURDAY 1ST DECEMBER
In 2002 Marys Meals fed 200 children, by 2010, 400,000 children were being fed every day by Marys Meals. In 2012, 700,000 children received Marys Meals and today….over 1,362,586 of the poorest children around the world, receive Marys Meals daily, from Africa, Asia, The Caribbean, South America and Europe. Marys Meals also supports the abandoned HIV Children of Romania, but all this good work, is only being made a reality by the kindness of people like you!
We will continue to support and keep the focus on the children of this primary school, but also on some other areas including Glasgow’s homeless and the Glasgow Refugee’s. The clothes and Toys, that were left from the Vintage Tea Party will be making there way to Maslow’s Shop in Govan, over the next couple of weeks.
Ahimsa is at the heart and soul of our studio, our students and the teachers who teach here, it is important for us to offer support and give back – kindness & compassion to all, via our thoughts and our actions.
‘May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and my thoughts and my actions somehow contribute to that freedom for all”lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu’ Mantra
